Do you remember what museum or dealer the francaise is from? The Newport gown does look interesting. My first thought on looking at it was that it reminded me of a particular francaise that has a pair of front-lacing panels meant to have a stomacher put on them, but if that were the case wouldn't they here be lining material? And the robings seem awfully wide-set for that as well. I suppose it's some kind of transitional style, maybe ca. 1777?
